Superhero Jacked Case Study

If I didn't find my signature series I would have just been another jacked personal trainer with some certifications.

I would have been one of many, with nothing to differentiate me.

Instead, I was able to break into one of the most saturated markets and make seven figures, and multiple six figures a year with as little as 5-15 hours a week.

We'll be breaking down exactly how I did it.

From the start of my signature series, and how I broke it into layers to keep scaling, and even repurpose content to blow up on other platforms as well (using the same series).

Superhero Jacked Breakdown

Superhero Jacked boils down to the website, making multiple six figures a year, and a total of over seven figures online via SEO and collecting massive amounts of email leads (300-500+ per day), but has also grown on other platforms:

  • Website: Millions of Organic Leads from SEO
  • Email Subscribers: Over 1M Collected, 40-50% open rate, 300-500 new organic leads daily.
  • Other Highlights: Featured in New York Times, Business Insider, and more.
  • TikTok: 50K Followers
  • YouTube: 30K Subscribers
  • IG/FB: 10K+ Each

With the use of SHJ's signature series, I have been able to leverage my content to not only stand out but also borrow authority and become one myself in the fitness industry.

We'll be talking about just how I did that below.

SHJ's Signature Series

I tested at least five other fitness websites before I landed on Superhero Jacked.

Looking back, I was testing and searching for my signature series back then, 10 years ago, without even knowing it.

When I finally allowed myself to create the content I loved researching, learning, and creating - while adding my unique spin and personality, it finally soared.

Now you can Google things like "Anime Workouts", "Superhero Workouts" and "Batman Workouts" and find Superhero Jacked towards the top of the list (usually number one).

But, it didn't start there.

We'll be breaking down my FIRST signature series that made me hundreds of thousands of dollars (and still does), hacked authority in the fitness industry, and led to what I call SS content layers.

This is when we add new forms or variations of our signature series.

We saw some of this in my breakdown of how Slater Kodish got 500M views and 4.5M followers breaking into the gaming industry with his signature series.

๐Ÿš€ What Is Superhero Jacked's Signature Series?

Superhero Jacked's first signature series was celebrity-researched workout routines and diet plans.

Superhero Jacked's brand was always "Fitness Doesn't Have To Suck" and "Fitness Meets Fandom" - pushing simplicity, making fitness fun, and always having a fun, nerdy spin.

And just like what we know about signature series, I was able to repeatedly put out the same content; except each one was a new celebrity.

If you click through the workout routines and diets you'll notice this layout:

  • Quick Breakdown of The Celebrity (Movies/Transformation)
  • Stats of Celebrity (Height/Weight/Age)
  • Nutrition Section (Dietary Research and Diet Plan)
  • Workout Routine Research (Research and Quotes)
  • The Full Workout Routine Build (The Actual Build of The Workout)

And that's it!

I have used this format for my articles for 10 years now, even using it with my SS layers that have exploded all over the internet.

๐Ÿš€ Signature Series Content Deep Dive

We broke down HOW I wrote the articles above, but I want to go a bit deeper.

I want to discuss a bit more about how I was able to find the content, and what made it unique - as well as what it did for me.

๐Ÿš€ Lesson Number One: Leveraging Other Authorities To Build Your Authority

As I mentioned earlier: If I hadn't researched celebrities and put my twist on the content I was putting out, I would have just been another jacked personal trainer with some certifications on the internet.

There are a handful of ways to build authority, and it helps to know your specific Creator Archetype:

  1. The Product/Services Creator (The Big Three Niches)
  2. The Ad Rev/Sponsorship Creator (The Passion Niches)

From there you can begin choosing some of the Authority and Growth Creator Types to specifically cater your content creation around.

Here are some examples:

  • The Authority: Leveraging past experiences to teach as the authority within a niche. (I do this within my own personal brand. Also, think of Alex Hormozi.)
  • The Researcher: Leveraging other authorities via case studies and research. (Like Superhero Jacked, for example)
  • The Teacher: Similar to The Authority and Researcher, but teaching as you learn, or teaching under a specific brand.
  • The Entertainer: Leading with comedy, stories, and specific niche entertainment.
  • The Media Brand: Leveraging other professionals with their entertainment or authority. (Think Barstool Sports)
  • The Mix and Match: The most effective type is going to be when you pull multiple aspects together! (You'll notice Superhero Jacked does this when we get into the SS Layers)

And there are even a few more than just those!

Finding your specific Creator Archetype and using it to then choose your Authority and Growth Creator Type is a big part of what we learn when finding our signature series inside The Accelerator.

๐Ÿš€ Lesson Number Two: Create The Content You Want To Research

I was genuinely interested in how celebrities were getting shredded and in shape for their roles in superhero movies, so it was an easy task to complete.

The work became leisure for me.

I was working full time at a watch store selling watches, going to school at Stony Brook University full time, coaching CrossFit Classes, personal training clients on the side, and also working out myself 2 hours a day to stay in shape.

If I didn't love creating the content, I likely wasn't going to create the content...

But because I loved it, it became an escape from all of the other "work" I had to do.

This is around the point I began learning how much hyper-focusing on YOUR specific strengths will do for your business:

  • I didn't have time to do anything else.
  • I didn't like creating video content.
  • I didn't like social media.

So guess what...?

I didn't do any of that, and I went all in on what I loved creating.

Fast forward and I was making 30K the first year, doubled that to 70K the next, and near 150K the following.

Signature Series Layers

I love using Superhero Jacked as an example of Signature Series Layers, not only because I own it, but also because there are so many unique ways that I have had to pivot - and still be able to crush a new section of the market.

When I first started I was landing at the top of Google for nearly every single celebrity workout and diet I was posting.

This was great for the first 3-5 years, and I was crushing it.

Then big websites like Men's Health, Muscle & Fitness, and many others (who ironically enough had linked to me and even featured me in the past) began to realize just how much traffic these keywords were driving.

So my little niche-unique market began getting extremely saturated.

Because I had my unique brand, I still kept tons of followers and have tons of requests for new workouts every single day - and I'll never lose the authority that comes with it - but it was time for a mini-pivot.

๐Ÿš€ SS Layer One: Superhero and Anime Inspired Workouts

I had tested out one or two of the big-name characters for each - like Batman, Naruto, and a couple of others - and it had gone really well.

The only reason I hesitated before diving in is because I was just testing...

I wasn't in need of a full pivot; until I was.

So that's a big lesson for you: always test other variations of your signature series; be ready to add SS Layers.

Because when it came time to pivot, I knew exactly where I was going.

My audience was already loving it, and I could go all in without needing to worry about whether or not it was going to be a big swing and a miss.

I used the same exact format I was using for my celebrity workouts and diets, but I was building the character routines around each of their specific aesthetics (cosplay-oriented, for example), and their powers and abilities.

So that's what the research sections broke down, and any training they may have done within their lore.

I now how over 1000 anime and superhero-inspired workouts, have gone viral on multiple platforms not only for my content, but from others sharing the workouts, and have hundreds of thousands of fans waiting for my emails every single week to see which new characters and celebrities hit the site.

๐Ÿš€ SS Layer Two: Repurposing Your Content

I generally hate social media, creating video content, being on video content, and editing video content (lol).

But I have still grown my TikTok to 50K and YouTube to 30K.

And I did it by repurposing the content I was already creating.

My TikTok videos still had hooks, but each one of them was just telling you that my main signature series existed.

You see, my signature series, the anime, and superhero-inspired workouts, are so unique that two things happen when I post them:

  1. I'm educating my audience about their existence: A lot of people don't even realize you can Google for "Batman Workout" or "Goku Workout" - so by putting it on social media, I'm letting them know they can not only find that, but they can find more.
  2. It's so unique, the existence itself can create virality: Because it is so unique, I can simply tell them about it, and it sells itself. So repurposing has led me to millions of new eyes on the workouts, driving them to the main signature series, which collects the email address.

Key takeaway: You'll see this time and time again among our Creator Case Studies...UNIQUENESS wins.

๐Ÿš€ SS Layer Three: Listicles, Quotes and More

Similar to the repurposing for TikTok, YouTube, and other social platforms, I have some other SS Layers that are super repeatable, but serve the purpose of driving my audience to the MAIN signature series (the workouts).

The workout routines are extremely unique, and they collect the email address.

I get 300-500 organic email leads a day, just by offering a PDF version of the workout people are already on the site for.

So, instead of trying to create a fix for something that's not broken (you know the saying); I'm just adding layers that lead to the main conversion point.

You saw me do this with the repurposing, but this time I'm going to tell you how I added new variations entirely.

  1. Top Ten Listicles (Most Powerful/Most Popular): You can find listicles on SHJ like "The Top Ten Most Powerful Marvel Characters" or a variation of that for virtually every comic book or anime we have.
  2. Most Inspiring Quotes List: I saw an opportunity for easy repeatable content that can drive to the workouts, and started doing "Best Quotes" lists like "The Top Ten Most Inspiring Vegeta Quotes" for example.

Why do these work?

The same reason the video repurposing worked.

I know the fact that I have workout routines is extremely unique and people need to be educated on their existence, so I'm bringing them to the site with a different repeatable content type and then making them aware of the workouts WITHIN the article they're there for.

Nine times out of ten they say "This is so cool!" and click into one of the workouts, and I have now created new awareness within my audience.

How To Replicate Superhero Jacked's Success

There are a couple of big takeaways from Superhero Jacked that I want to highlight.

There are quite a few things you should have learned from this breakdown, including hopefully some motivation for your signature series - but I love giving some very clear lessons each time I do an case study and case study video intensive within The Accelerator.

That said, here are some clear takeaways from Superhero Jacked's Creator Case Study:

  1. Borrow Authority
  2. Lead With Uniqueness
  3. Don't Be Afraid To Hyper-Niche
  4. Drive People To Your Main Signature Series

For me, at Superhero Jacked I use my signature series to collect leads onto my email list.

So leading my audience to the place that does the best job collecting those email leads is the smartest thing I can do.

For Slater, that's driving his audience to his Twitch channel to watch him stream live.

You'll have your MAIN location to drive your audience, but either way, you can have your core signature series that you add SS Layers and different variations to.

I wake up excited to work every single day.

I can also take off and my business will continue running.

So remember: Build a business you wake up excited about, to live the life you dream about.
